Look, my love, and see our child,
her tiny hands clasped tight to ours.
A miracle that this can be
she's part of you and part of me
yet very much her very own,
a brand new life. We are her home.
Sweet rosebud lips, an infant's yawn,
in blanket soft to keep her warm,
ten toes that curl and stretch to kick,
eyelashes drooping into sleep.
Can we be truly blessed so much
to hold our child and feel her touch?
The gifts God gives, none can surpass.
Now teach us, Father, we humbly ask,
to raise our child in Your great love
and trust in You as she trusts in us.
