I don’t know about you but I totally love rollercoasters! Even when they scare me to death or make me a little sick. I haven’t gone on any new ones for awhile (hope I can soon) but I did read a great book about them by Robert Coker that was totally awesome. Anyway, you know how sometimes a person will use it as an analogy to something negative like bad experiences? I don’t really like that. (Going down is just as fun as anything else!) However, that’s kind of what I’m saying here. This song is about how life can be like a wild rollercoaster but God is there for us. If it was a real song I would like it to be an emotional rock song with music that would go up and down like a coaster. Please tell me what you think! Thanks. (I don’t know how this first draft sounds without rhymes, and I don’t really know how the music would sound. What do you think?)
1 The bars come down and you sit in your seat, waiting for the ride to begin
You don’t know if you really want to go through it now
But it’s too late to turn back and the ride lurches ahead
And now you’re rolling forwards whether you like it or not
2 Maybe the ride starts slowly, clanking to the top of a hill
Or maybe it launches off like a rocket and throws you back in your seat
You hold on tight and know it’s just a matter of time until you reach the top
And you’ll be in a huge freefall
(Chorus) Rollercoaster! What a wild ride this life is!
Soaring up... rushing down... zooming around and around
Aaaaaaaah! Feels like there’s no control of where you’re going
But just hang on and you’ll be fine, I promise the harness will hold you in
3 Now you’re flying down the hill, and life is getting’ tough
The g-force of emotions strike you and tears begin to come
You raise your hands and ask for help and hope it will soon end
How much longer can you take it? When will this change?
4 Back up you go to the top of a hill, you cheer at the top of your lungs
You can see the bright sun and a clear blue sky, things are looking up
Spirits soar as you enter the door of wonderful peace and joy
Praise the Lord you’re going somewhere now!
(Chorus) Rollercoaster! What a wild ride this life is!
Soaring up... rushing down... zooming around and around
Aaaaaaaah! Feels like there’s no control of where you’re going
But just hang on and you’ll be fine, I promise the structure will hold you up
5 As you twist and turn around you begin to wonder how safe this really is
But for those who are believers they have nothing to worry about
The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are the three sets of wheels that keep us on the tracks
So keep looking forward, life up your hands, and don’t ever look back
6 Yeah, it’s a wild thrill ride that we can’t control but remember who built this thing
We don’t need get sick to our stomachs by worrying about what’s coming next
Just enjoy the ride, enjoy the view, and shout at the top of your lungs
It’s gonna be over before you know it, so let’s make this all it’s worth!
(Chorus) Rollercoaster! What a wild ride this life is!
Soaring up... rushing down... zooming around and around
Aaaaaaaah! Feels like there’s no control of where you’re going
But just hang on and you’ll be fine, I promise you’ll make it safely to the end
We’re all in this together. It’s under God’s control. He will take us safely... to the end. *electric guitar screech like a coaster stopping*
