That threathens our ability to hear
Like Elijah we hear only the devil
And run in our all consuming fear
We come to our caves and go right in
We hide from God for our own sake
But He is not there in the rush of the wind
Or the mighty rumbling of the earthquake
We must get very quiet and listen
For God speaks to us in whispers, hushed
That is the way we commune with Him
That is the way He teaches us to trust
Because it is in the still small voice
That we strain so hard and long to hear
That we are asked to be glad and rejoice
And then we truly know that God is near
