Oh Cross where has he gone who made you grand?
Did you not know that in your embrace you lifted up the Son of Man?
Marked and scourged he longed to cling to you.
To appease the Father, he spilt out his blood and stained you rouge.
Kiss him sweetly while you have this change,
For on the morning of the third you’ll never again share with him death’s dance.
The heavens embrace him and creation mourns and empty song.
At his command the earth spills out the righteous children of times long gone.
The starts rejoice, “He is alive and He is well.”
From the core of the earth the King breaks forth with the keys of Death and Hell.
Shout aloud and sing praise to his name,
Death had kissed him, but our God still reigns.
You see, none can do what the Son has done.
He alone has the power, because he is the Holy One.
Oh ancient God, creator of time and space,
All of your beauty and majesty we see here, on your child’s face.
Oh Cross where has he gone who made you grand?
Never again will you have the chance to embrace the Son of Man.
For He lives on
