Remember my son when I held you close
And cared for you each day.
We laughed and cried and shared so much
In each and every way.
Time sped past you grew up fast.
I was at a loss for what to do.
You were my son but my job was done.
The rest was up to you.
I never thought when I let you go
You would have to bear such pain.
The look in your eyes the moment you died
With me will always remain.
You hung your head as you quietly said
“Woman behold your son”.
It was then that I knew that you died for me too.
Your work on earth was done
Now as I stand before your grave
A sword pierces my heart.
But soon we’ll meet again my son
And never have to part.
