I shall set out today,
Along the pathway of life,
But will I know the way?
Which path is rich and rife?
How do I determine my fate?
Who can help me in my quest?
Who knows what will await?
Who knows what’s truly best?
Is there a definitive guidebook?
Some tender word of teaching?.
If so then tell me where to look
For I am longingly beseeching.
Is there an answer to know,
is there a course I must follow.
Show me where to find it,
As life’s become stale and hollow,
It needs substance and form,
There must be someone who knows.
Surely in this great creation,
There is some sort of written prose.
I am longing for the truth,
Not just capriciousness of thought
Something firm and constant
Something tried and truly ought.
If ever I should discover
Such a remarkable masterpiece.
I would scour all the pages,
Devouring its wisdom and peace.
