This is an informational poem reflecting the urgent need to find a vaccine to combat malaria.
<center>Hot, humid days,
Pools of standing water,
Breeding grounds of death.
Dusk arrives,
Risk of death increases.
Buzzing, blood-sucking insects
Flit about seeking relief from hunger.
A child is found, a simple bite;
Might this be the bite of death?
A child, so susceptible, so young;
A child, least able to fight the deadly disease, is bitten.
Mosquito nets help, but more needs to be done.
Education, medication, eradication of malaria is a must.
Forty-five seconds tick off the clock,
Another child dies of that painful disease.
What difference can you make?
