The Bible is GOD’s Operations Manual
A failure to study owner manuals or receive guidance before using new appliances or driving a vehicle has created many problems for me as well as others. A manual is a guide book which shows pr tells to use and care for something It provides instructions to follow when using their product.
Once, I attempted to drive my husband’s car before I studied the manual or asked him to explain and show me location of different functions. Although the owner’s manual was in the car, I never read or studied it. Also, I did not ask my husband about the location of different buttons such as the button to defog a window.
One night my son wanted to attend a club meeting. Because my husband was unavailable and my car needed repair, I decided to use his car to take my son to this meeting . Prior to my decision to drive my husband’s car ,I had not taken the time to study the operator’s manual for his car.
As I drove along , it began to rain. Although the rain was light, increasing fog on the window affected my ability to see the road. I panicked! I didn't know how to remove the fog. The fog on the window increased. I could barely see. I wanted to get rid of the fog but I didn’t know the exact button to push and I didn’t want to create more problems. After attempt to wipe the fog with a tissue failed, I asked my son to wipe the fog as I drove. That didn’t work!
Eventually I pulled off of the road. It didn’t make sense to continue to drive when I could not see the road. My son and I began to explore different buttons. Finally, we discovered the right button but we missed the meeting. When we finally arrive, we learned the meeting had ended. That situation could have been avoided if I had taken time to study the operating manual or ask my husband about the location of the button to use when removing fog, before attempting to drive the car.
Car manufacturers prepare manuals because they want those who drive their vehicles to understand the operation and care of them and thus avoid unnecessary problems. Cars and other appliances have been damaged because people failed to study the operating manual. We have been given an operator’s manual, and that manual is the Bible.
The Bible is god’s manual to aide us during our lifetime. God is our creator. He loves us and did not leave us alone to struggle to discover our way. He gave us a manual, the Bible, which tells us how to live a fulfilling life. Some believe the study of the Bible is a waste of time while; others don't understand the things they read and thus say “i have better things to do. Others don’t begin to read the Bible until a problem comes along.
The Bible records the experiences and the problems encountered. We gain or learn from the experiences of others. When speaking of the scriptures and why we should study them Paul said “such things were written in the scriptures long ago to teach us. They give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for god’s promises.
Let's take time to study ,i.e. ( examine, look at carefully and investigate) the Bible. , As we study the Bible, we become aware of god's purpose for our life.
God wants us to know him. How can we know him? He reveals himself in the manual he has provided, the Bible . Life is a gift. Our responsibility is to use the gift in the manner it was designed to be used. We will not live in the manner God desires if we fail to study the Bible, the manual He has provided
The Bible is a guide. It is our guide. I often ask myself how do you know when you have arrived if you don’t know where you are going.
The Bible tells us where we are going and how to reach our final destination. We must study the bible, our creator’s manual so that we may not get lost along the way.
Jesus, the son of god, knew his father’s word. When attacked. He used the word of god as a weapon. If Jesus knew and used God’s word, who are we to think it is not necessary to know and understand the words found in the Bible,( God’s manual).
Paul told Timothy, “study to show thyself approved, a work man, rightly dividing the word of truth..... If Paul told timothy to study, then who are we to think we don’t need to study God’s word. We are never to young or to old to study God’s word.
After my experience of driving my husband’s car without prior regarding proper understanding of the functions of various “buttons, etc) . I now study manuals before attempting to use
vehicles or appliances. That experience taught me a valuable lesson about the need to study operating manuals before attempting to operate vehicles or other appliances.
Remember, God wants us to know him and we must study the bible the manual he provided? God said ‘my people perish for a lack of
Knowledge. There is no reason to fail. Rather than fail, we should study God manual and use it as a guide.
