OPERATION OF GOD.
The operations of God involve dealing with the sin nature in you, by his spirit which is the hand of God revealed. Sin is a law (Rom 7:20). We must understand this law before we can deal with it. All laws have power. For example gravity. If you throw a stone up, it will eventually fall back to the earth, be it in Nigeria or U.S.A, the law of gravity is the same. It cannot be faulted by location within which the law operates.
Many Christians are unable to live above sin because they have not realised it is a law. All sinners are the same everywhere in the world because you become a sinner by birth, but a son of God by choice. This choice is accepting the law of the spirit.
"For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death"
Notice there are two laws in operation. When you are in Christ you are under the law of the spirit, which is contrary to that of sin.
"For I through the law (of the spirit) am dead to the law (of sin) that I might live unto God" Gal 2:19. (Paraphrased).
You can never live without submitting to a law. Laws are not meant to restrict us but to give us liberty. Any liberty without restrain Kills; a car without brakes, a tongue without the mouth! Every thing that God created has a law to bring the best out of that product. The human being has the spirit of God to restrain him from destruction.
You can say you have will! Very good. Your will has power, it carries out your opinion and judgements, but it has a limit. When your will clashes with sin, which of them prevail? The will prevails at the beginning, but ultimately sin prevails. So your will is not the solution. When you hold up a tea spoon in your hands, you can will to hold it up for an hour or two; eventually gravity will prevail against you, not the weight of the spoon. Gravity never tires out, but your hand does. The spoon has not become heavier but the law of gravity has triumphed over the strength of your hand. So is sin and your will. Sin triumphs over our will because it is a law.
We need to submit our members here on earth to a new master for the operation of God to be complete in us. Sin came from Satan, principalities and powers. The spirit comes from Christ now the scripture gives us strength, and insight.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Col 2:10-12
The pull of the spirit is higher than that of the flesh and sin because, he is the HEAD.
This operation is of the LORD by his spirit. Let me explain through this illustration. When a man is sick of an ailment that requires surgery he submits himself to the doctors, who anaesthetize the body before cutting it. Likewise, the word of God is a double edged sword penetrating between the soul and spirit, nothing is hidden from it.
When we submit ourselves to the word of God, we become dead to pain but alive to His acts of deliverance. The problem is not the sin but what we submit to.
Two balloons, one filled with helium, the other with air; helium is lighter than air. The one with helium will rise spontaneously, without aid. As soon as we let go, the balloon will rise. The rising is a law, because of what it contains. In the same way, we are empowered when we submit to the spirit of God.
He performs the operation before we know it and very soon the fruit of the spirit will begin to manifest contrary to that of sin.
"But if ye are led of the spirit ye are not under the law. Gal 4:18
How can I be led of the spirit, by submitting to Christ and asking Him to baptise me in the spirit. As you do this you will give birth to the fruit of the spirit which you do not have before. LOVE, JOY, PEACE, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such there is no law. Jesus commands, "whosoever is thirsty for the fruit, let him come and drink freely" !!! How thirsty are you. Come with all your heart and you will receive and drink from this river of life.
