Apologetics
I am homo-phobic! Or am I? I am a Bible believing, fundamentalist, evangelical Christian! I believe that homosexuality is abnormal, abominable, antiBiblical, condemned by God and Hell-deserving. That much is certain. But am I 'homophobic?' Let's see;
The term 'homos' is from the Greek and it means 'same.' Phobia is from 'phóbos' and it means fear. Taken together then, a homophobic is one who fears 'same' things. Does that describe me?
I am not afraid of a pair of shoes no matter how much they resemble one another. Two identical cars rarely scare me unless they are coming at me in opposite directions. Twins are usually not a problem either. In brief I would say that I am not afraid of same things.
Of course there are those who would say that etymology is dictated by common usage. The term homophibia has been hijacked and re-coined, so to speak, to mean 'a fear of homosexuals', interestingly enough, by those who hide a perverted, lopsided agenda behind the 'recasting'. Nevertheless everyone must now, if we are to be politically correct, think of homophobia only in these terms. I personally think that this is a silly notion. If all we have to do to create a new and 'valid' word is take a common term and assign some new meaning to it, regardless of actual definitions, we follow a short road to grammatical chaos. Anyone can say that any term means anything.
Beside this, wherein lies the 'fear' even of homosexual people? What is it that I should be afraid of? That they are increasing in number (at least in their own minds)? That they have hijacked society and politics and have abused them to gain standing in culture? That one might become a school teacher or influence my kid? That one might move in next door? I am not 'afraid' of any of them or of their agendas. I may be concerned for them and because of their influence but 'afraid'?, never!
Perhaps someday a homosexual committee, accompanied by the police, might knock on my door and drag me away to prison for 'hate speech'. Perhaps they will have become so influential by then that they can even have me sentenced to death for speaking truth.
Would I then fear them or their perversion?
Absolutely not! As I have said, I am a Bible believing Christian. Therefore I would love all that hate me, bless all that curse me and pray for all who despitefully use and persecute me (Matthew 5:44). I would declare God's truth regarding perversion and salvation, in love (Ephesians 4:15). I would, most assuredly, not fear any who can destroy the body only but I would reverence Him Who can destroy body and soul in Hell (Matthew 10:28)!!
Homo-phobic? Nope! Homosexual-phobic? Nope! Ready to declare truth and preach repentance and forgiveness of sin for all Sodomites? Yep!

Yes, Jesus died for all. We are to hate the sin but not the sinner. Their soul is important also. Homosexuality as is other sins is an abomination to God. These things were going on back in the days of Lot. It is nothing new and no one should fear except those individuals who continue in sin and do not repent. Amen!
