Jacob did so and completed her week, and he gave him his daughter Rachel as his wife. Genesis 29:28 NASB
A car dealership advertised a promotion where there was a chance to win a brand-new Toyota Corolla if they entered a lottery. After a couple of weeks, the winner of the lottery was announced and the presented with the car. However, the Toyota Corolla presented to the winner was a toy car and not an actual car that he could fit into. What would you do in this situation? I suggest you do what Jacob did. After being tricked by Laban, most of us would have probably just stayed with Leah. Others would have rejected Leah, staged a fight or lived in disappointment.
When we keep working towards or praying for something and it seems to be taking the time or we don’t get it we often just give up. But it's important that we don’t give up but keep pressing on until we get what we seek, even if we have to do more work to be able to get it. Jacob’s reaction to not having Rachel at the appointed time is quite interesting to see. He knew what he wanted, and he wasn’t going to leave without it even if it meant he had to deal with deception and work additional years. That should be our reaction as well. We have to learn to go all out for what we want and allow nothing to cause us to lose sight of it or have it slip through our fingers. We should never give up because whatever we are working or praying to get is within our reach.
