Let us know that He knows who we are
There is a wonderful poem by Wilbur Rees which probably portrays correctly our view and vision of God, we do not want to see God ‘As He is’, rather we want to see ‘God as we want Him to be’
Three Dollars Worth of God
I would like to buy $3 worth of God, please.
Not enough to explode my soul or disturb my sleep,
but just enough to equal a cup of warm milk
or a snooze in the sunshine.
I don’t want enough of God to make me love a black man
or pick beets with a migrant.
I want ecstasy, not transformation.
I want warmth of the womb, not a new birth.
I want a pound of the Eternal in a paper sack.
I would like to buy $3 worth of God, please.
— Wilbur Rees
Jesus said…
“If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.”
John 15:24 NKJV
While Jesus was loved for His love and concern for the poor and the needy at the same time He was hated for His direct approach to the proud through which he exposed their evil deeds and thus they hated Him.
As the presence of light exposes the flaws of the dark and as a mirror brings before everyone the true picture, the presence of the Lord God lays bare our true state, for there is nothing that can be hidden from God, for He knoweth it all.
Yet, now that we know that God knows us very well, what shall be done?
Shall we continue in sin? - In doing so, we will do more damage to our weary souls.
Should we rebel against God and ignore His warnings and corrections? – We would be a fool to do so, for no rebellion has ever prevailed against God and we will for sure fail and be destroyed.
Or should we repent and seek His mercy? – This is the perfect desire of God, for He does not take pleasure in punishing us, rather desires our repentance and return.
This is what the Lord says…
“Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?” says the Lord God, “and not that he should turn from his ways and live?”
Ezekiel 18:23 NKJV
God loves us and wants to save us, He wants to forgive us and waits for us to return from our wicked ways, so He may make us a new person, so He may bless us and make us a blessing for others.
Now that we know Who God is and who we are before Him, let’s correct our ways if required and be the blessed person God has always wanted us to be.
God Bless,
Abraham
