Lord, teach us to pray
Prayer is the most powerful privilege of men and women, for through the means of prayer we accomplish much.
Jesus said…
“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
John 14:13 NKJV
The above is an open invitation to all to tap into the blessed resources God has instore for us.
Yet many complain that it does not work, for they have not yet received that which they asked for, why?
There is a prerequisite about the person asking…
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
John 15:7 NKJV
We have to abide in Christ and His words has to abide in us, for then shall our prayer be in accordance to the will of God and will be answered.
One of the reasons of unanswered prayers is that we ask amiss, because we have yet not changed to the extent of abiding in Christ and His words abiding in us.
(There are other reasons of unanswered prayers which includes a delayed response for the right time is yet to come)
“You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.”
James 4:3 NKJV
For want of the inner transformation within us, regrets due to unanswered prayers becomes a part of our daily life, however at the same time we are losing out on the blessed privilege to pray ‘in the will of God’.
If we could ask for that which God wants us to have, we will have what we have asked for.
The above is only possible when we pray in the will of the Lord and this can only happen when we treasure His presence within us and delight in His Word.
Walking with Jesus and having known Him to be the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, this is what the disciples thought best to ask of Him…
“Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
Luke 11:1 NKJV
Let’s ask God that more than riches and pleasures of life, we may learn to pray and pray rightly in accordance to His will always.
God Bless,
Abraham
