“For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.” Ephesians 2: 14-16
As Margie McGregor tucked her two children into bed at 8pm, she contemplated where her husband was so late at night. Reaching down to plant a final kiss on the forehead of her sweet, tender-hearted 7-year-old daughter, she stood straight up to leave, and as she tip toed towards the door of her daughter, she daughter inquired sleepily, “Mommy, why does Daddy have to work so late? Plus, he said he’d be at my music recital on Friday night, but he’s missed all my recitals, and dance shows. I just don’t know if he’ll be there….do you think he will?” Margie turned around to face her daughter, and weakly responded, “Now, Sweetheart, I am not sure. Why don’t we pray about it?” So, Margie turned around , walked over to her daughter’s bed and knelt down by her bedside. As Margie clasped her daughter’s tiny hands in hers, she led her in prayer. After they prayer, Little Annabelle Grace whispered, “Mommy, we need to pray for Daddy to meet Jesus, cause sometimes Daddy is mean and says harsh things to me and Willie.” Margie hugged her daughter and made her way out of the room, and walked downstairs to wait for her absent husband, while tears streamed down her face.
Meanwhile, Henry McGregor was at O’Reilly’s with his business associates, drinking, and playing cards. At 12am, he stumbled out of the pub, and barely made his way to his black Mercedes. After fumbling with the keys, he opened the car door and sunk into his seat, trying to adjust himself. Thoughts began pouring into his head about his family. The harsh words he said to his wife and children for the past week, and an awful feeling knotted his stomach.
Around 1 am, Henry noisily entered the front door of his house, and shut the door a little too loud. He then put down his briefcase, and trudged upstairs and into his room. Margie lay with tears streaming down her face, as the smell of alcohol drifted from her husband.
Early the next morning, Margie was up sitting in the kitchen reading her bible and praying, when she began speaking out loud, “Dear Lord, I know my husband is not living right. I know he is not walking with You. Please save Him and make him Yours.” That day Margie took both “Willie” and Annabelle Grace and headed to her parents, Donald and Rhoda Smith to stay with them.
After the passing of 1 year, and serious prayer, Henry accepted Christ. And was reunited with his wife and two children.
