She stepped out of the shower and liberally applied the rich moisturizer. Her thoughts were almost like an ad: The skin must have a warm, glowing look. While she absorbed, she proceeded with step two, applying the final coat of the nail polish to her toes, polish with one of those corny beauty product names, "Strawberry Sunset."
The dress she had oh-so-carefully chosen for the event was a tricky shade to match, and she'd carefully shopped for the super-sexy peep-toed, stack-heeled shoes, the expensive clutch bag, and just the right wrap for her delicate shoulders.
As she got ready, the whole picture came together. The dress wasn't as short as some she possessed--it was about mid-thigh in length--BUT, the way it hugged and caressed her body in all the right places more than made up for the few inches of well-toned upper leg that she wouldn't be able to show off tonight. Except when I "accidentally" let the dress ride up while uncrossing and re-crossing my legs, she thought, with a purr.
She absolutely wanted to show off her arms and shoulders, because, hey, she deserved to! She had worked hard for that firmness! But, it was winter. What to do, what to do? That was when the idea came for a wrap. She could wear it there, then take it off once inside. This would also give her a "semi-disrobing opportunity," which can be very alluring, when done just right.
"Oh, yeah," she said aloud. "I am gonna catch me a man tonight."
Now, for the hair. Her hair had actually, naturally been a deep chestnut brown some time ago, and she currently gave it a little help to return to that color and luster, along with some "Midnight Bloodbath" lowlights and "Mulled Honey Wine" highlights. The tousled, just-out-of-bed look, with bangs that flirtingly brushed the eyebrows, was exactly what she wanted, and she was pleased with the way it came together this late afternoon, as the last light bled from the day.
The make-up frenzy launched. She had reached the expert level in cosmetics application in her youth, and used those skills to full effect for this all-important evening. She hummed to herself as she worked her way through the process, finishing up with the "Scarlet Sin" lipstick. She'd pop into the ladies' room after arrival and do the final touchup, as usual.
She was careful not to overdo the parfúm, as it was a richly concentrated, heady musk and amber scent. She wanted to attract, not overwhelm!
And the jewelry. Her chandelier earrings featured small (simulated) ruby teardrops, suspended around a framed larger stone. The matching pendant necklace pulled the eye to her plunging neckline (as intended!). She nodded. "Um, hmmm. I'm definitely going to have to pull the old 'drop and retrieve' bit this evening, bending over deeply to pick up some...coin or something. Several times, in the right...setting. Yes, indeed."
Earlier that afternoon she had had her fingernails done professionally with "Crimson Passion" nail lacquer, and she felt that she was ready for the evening.
She drove to her destination, wondering what the evening would bring, and if she'd be coming home alone...
As planned, once inside the building she shrugged out of her wrap, enjoying, while not seeming to notice, the appreciative lingering glances of the men around her.
She ducked into the restroom and applied the "Shimmering Sexy Success" lip gloss, which acted as an irritant to the lips and made them swell slightly, while also creating a liquid, shiny look.
Dawn checked her reflection one more time, head to toe. Perfect. She winked at herself and nodded, thinking, Yep. I am sizzling hot!
She stepped out of the restroom, sauntered down the hall, and entered the milling throng in the main lobby of the church.

Ooooh wow, Brenda. I was bothered enough as I read, but that ending was QUITE the twist. My jaw literally dropped. Incredibly troubling - and I know there are some who do just this. Great stuff--and what a lesson.
