MY BIO
I were born in the tumultuous cry-days for Kenya’s freedom, in 1959… in Kiambu. And I grew, through childhood, amidst the lush-love bonds of freedom! within the eternal greenery of our Kenya’s beautiful Highlands, - renowned far for fine weathers… and yieldful plentitude.
I loved the life of open country and in my early school days, I would neglect learning, tending to playfulness upon sparkling rills on pristine sceneries. And I would be alone for hours! save for people who passed far away… or birds in song upon fairly dancing trees. Wildlife would nibble grass, curiously aware of my intrusive joyousfulness upon their sane serenity, removed from industrious meanness!
Having moved from the highlands West of Nakuru to ones in the East in 1973,my smallness would trudge many miles in the lonely dusky hours of twilight that I may reach school. Now, I cherished learning and I were brilliant! – and in prayer, I would intercede for my dutifulness… and gladness, and success in life.
My father deeply pitied me for the arduous walks that in 1974 he moved me to Nairobi, the capital city of country Kenya. For the next six years, I lived in the midst of hurriedness, dis-care and humbling grandeur, of heartless newnesses. All along, my studies were steadfastly yielding.
By 1978, I were already a Poet in mind who didst lack the ampleness of language to express a teeming brain unto eyes of Mankind. Then chance beckoned as a misfortune in 1982. – Kenya was in turmoil, seething in hatred for political divide. This culminated in a foiled coup that saw many students from our only University, - Nairobi – die. I were to have joined that campus life in that very year!
I decided otherwise!
India opened its doors of Textile Technology… and in humble submission, I accepted to pursue a Diploma on same. The door to read the cherished Architectural degree from Nairobi campus closed forever but, for joys of All Living Mankind, my life bloomed a new! - Upon the dusty streets of Punjab, as well in Delhi, immortal literature of all ages of Man afforded it’s plenty unto my tireless perusing. The pen toiled along Amritsars’ great green leas of wheat and rice, by humanity packed streets, in Dhaba’s or upon lonely nights, arguing through sleepless nights and un-abating inspiration to give man a new face of being, removed from dark zests and unstable, fickle fates!
Ah, for days I would not sleep but write, the youthful ambition blind that form could buckle for endless toiling. Within the second year, the left part of the brain gave in but I would not cease. O that strength had not waned! - often from the gloom of over-tiredness, brilliancy would flare into poetical gems, fulfilling my ageless desire to gladden all!
Over this fog, I returned to Kenya in 1985 with Technological Laurels and, as a Poet drank with imperishable English poetry of many on Age…. But six months latter I were in Switzerland, upon its serenity… to study Sulzer Technology…. My body was ailing deeply over stress, yet I would not let go!
After two years of working as a senior management staff, health succumbed over stress! I thought that forever, I would never be well!
But today, seventeen years later, I walk the paths of our Earth, within the tender glow of sound strengths, saying, - in A Bestowment, To All Mankind
If the eyelid is to fairness open
And heart cherishes truth
And a man’s mind delights in right-
The song shall never cease to hold
The song of a godly living revered
Bye! -
