Paul Linzey serves as the Minister of Pastoral Care at the U.S. Naval Academy. He is an award-winning author who has written articles for religious and military magazines. He was a contributing writer and editor for Life Publisher’s Warriors Bible in 2014. Then in 2019 he published a book called WisdomBuilt Biblical Principles of Marriage, which was a finalist at the Florida Writers Association's Royal Palms Literary Awards. His second book was released September 2020 and is titled Safest Place in Iraq. This book is about his ministry and experience as a military chaplain in Iraq during the war, and the miraculous ways God answered prayer. This book took the first place Peach Award at the North Georgia Christian Writers Conference, sponsored by Word Weavers International, and also took the first place Gold Award at the Florida Writers Association's Royal Palms Literary Awards. Linzey graduated from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, CA, with a major in biblical studies. He completed the Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary, the Doctor of Ministry at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Tampa. He taught Creative Writing at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida for several years, and has been a featured speaker at several writers conferences. A pastor before going into the Army chaplaincy, he retired in 2015 at the rank of Colonel, and now devotes his time to writing, mentoring, and teaching. Paul’s theme scripture is First Thessalonians 2:8, “We loved you so much that we were willing to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.” Personal interests include music, digital photography, movies and theater, sports, and family. He and his wife have three adult sons, ten grandchildren, and a Beagle named Sophie.
