The Bridge
There's a bridge that goes to heaven,
It's there for all to cross;
For those who choose to walk that bridge
They'll never suffer loss.
This structure was created by
Our Father God alone;
Who sent His Son to die for us
And for our sins to atone.
The way was made when Jesus Christ,
Died upon the tree;
He became the bridge to heaven,
For those like you and me.
With the death of Jesus that gulf
From heaven to the earth;
Was bridged for all who've chosen to
Receive their brand new birth.
That rugged tree spanned the distance from
Here to the other side;
And truly the fact that it exists
Can never be denied.
The Lord loved us so that He made
A very special way;
To get us home to glory on
Our Graduation Day.
If people knew what Christ went through,
To pay for their salvation;
Dying upon a cruel cross for
Every tribe and nation.
Perhaps before leaving this world,
They'd choose the bridge of life,
Instead of the way that leads to
Torment, sorrow and strife.
The Bridge is there for all to cross,
But only if they choose;
Still, the other way means that their
Eternal soul they'll lose.
A cross that bridged the chasm from this
Earth to heaven's shore;
Christ shed His blood upon that cross
And still did so much more.
By His life and death He gave us
The peace for which we long;
And in our times of weakness it's
His strength that makes us strong.
While we're alive on earth we'll have
The blessings that He bought,
All the things for which our souls
Had truly always sought.
When our life on Earth is over
And it's our time to go
We'll simply walk across that bridge,
The Lord built long ago.
