Can you hear me when I speak?
Can you hear me at all?
Are you paying attention to me?
Can't you hear me call?
I don't always speak you know,
So just your ears can hear.
Sometimes I tug at your heart,
But I make it loud and clear.
Sometimes I speak through a heavy heart,
A nagging phrase or word or two.
You'd think by my silence sometimes,
That maybe I'm not speaking to you.
But I'm waiting for you to ask me for guidance.
Do you willingly depend on me?
Or will you shrug off my speaking to you,
As something that just couldn't be?
Maybe you know in your heart,
To follow me in your daily life.
It might require some major changes,
It might require a sacrifice.
It's your willingness I'm looking for,
That's what I'm wanting to see.
I can give you all you need and more,
If you'll just trust in me.
Listen with an open mind,
With an open heart too.
Trust that I know what's best,
You'll be amazed at what we can do.
If you think I'm just not speaking,
Loud enough for you to hear.
Maybe you should step closer to me,
Make the effort to draw me near.
Maybe you should reflect on the past,
When you thought I was speaking to you.
Did you do the things I asked?
Did you attempt to follow through?
That’s what I knew you would say.
Unfortunately so many don’t.
It’s not because they can’t though,
It’s just because they won’t.
Even those I am closer to,
That know me better than some,
Stall at what I ask of them,
Or wait on more “signs” to come.
Don’t think I won’t speak to you,
I can use you too, don’t worry.
I don’t care about your history,
You can bring my Father glory.
Be obedient and stay in prayer,
Remember you have the choice.
And the closer you are to me my child,
The more you’ll hear my voice.
