I Want You To Know
I want you to know that your Creator loves you more than you can imagine and that he always knows what is best for you. He leaves his footprints on your heart with His eternal Hope and inescapable, joyously insatiatable desire to know Him.
I want you to know that God expects more failure from you than you do from yourself.
I want you to know that there is a sweet, gentle tenderness to disciplined passion as it adds structure to creativity without diminishing its Spirit.
I want you to know that I am almost always much too busy wondering what you think of me to have any criticism or judgment of you.
I want you to know that I am selfish, frightened, petty and indifferent and that my finest moments come after I struggle past these parts of who I am and exercise kindness and compassion in coming to know who you are.
I want you to know that my greatest discovery came in the joy I realized in the discovery of any and all new things.
I want you to know that I am a very unique individual; that my thoughts and feelings are not your thoughts and feelings but, more important, they come from any of the same places that yours do and they often arrive at the same destinations.
I want you to know that I desperately want to be liked, admired, respected, and generally thought well of, often to the point of being unauthentic, which renders each of the aforementioned completely worthless.
I want you to know that I am perfectly willing to accept you for who you actually are and I hope and pray, but do not demand, that you show me the same courtesy.
I want you to intimately know that love and forgiveness are concentric circles drawn on the heart by its Designer.
I want you to know that love is a choice, not a concept … an act of will and not of reason.
I want you to know that guiding one towards God is the spiritual equivalent of raising the dead.
I want you to know that love is not a guarantee … it is an invitation.
I want you to know that when I am obsessed with who I am not, I forget who I really am.
I want you to know that when I regret all that I want and don’t have, I forget to appreciate all that I have and do not deserve.
I want you to know that we aren’t really expected to act with blind faith but rater with enlightened obedience.
I want you to know how much I yearn to live in the warm, bright darkness of faith and to stop living in the comfortable, confident, cold of conformity while pandering to the pool of popularity and meandering in the maze of mediocrity.
I want you to know that much of what I reveal is just my clever way of covering over all of that which I conceal.
I want you to know that a really big part of me did not want you to know any of these things but that an even bigger part wants you to know all of them … and much, much more.
Revelation
We make ourselves a place apart
Behind light words that tease and flout,
But oh, the agitated hear
Till someone really find us out.
'Tis pity if the case require
(Or so we say) that in the end
We speak the literal to inspire
The understanding of a friend.
But so with all, from babes that play
At hid-and-seek to God afar,
So all who hide too well away
Must speak and tell us where they are.
