Redemption Day 4/27/08
Oh Lord,
Thank You for letting me come into Your kingdom,
A pauper,
With empty hands,
Empty heart,
Knowing not for what I was looking.
But I found You there,
A King, a Priest,
Who could all my burdens bear,
A God to save me from myself,
And from the Devil's snare.
How I look back
With tears in my heart
To the time when You called my name.
It was faint to my ears,
But strong to my soul,
As I stood at that wooden pew.
I barely sensed the tears streaming down,
And felt my heart starting to pound,
As I knew deep within
I had to go to the altar
For a new life there to begin.
I was scared and yet calm,
As You pulled me along,
My body following its soul.
I knelt and I wept,
Knowing I was kept
By something of the Divine.
I asked to be led
In the sinner's prayer,
For Your Redemption to be mine.
When I had confessed
And known I'd been blessed,
I found a new countenance.
The joy of a saint's blood
Slowly crept in,
And I knew I'd been renewed
In my heart, soul, and mind.
I felt Your Holy Presence
There all around,
Within,
Coming from above.
And there, in that moment,
I knew what it was like
To feel the power of Jesus' love.
