Mourning
The rain falls softly in the cold dawn,
It’s not quite morning but the night is gone.
A heart is breaking over the death of a loved one.
So many questions so little answers.
“Why God why?” keeps echoing in her head.
Doubt and confusion are her companions.
Empty arms ache to hold her child one more time.
This hole in her heart will never mend.
Burying her baby at such an early age.
This was not in her plans.
An empty crib sits in the corner, waiting for
The baby that used to lay there.
The morning matches her mood, no light no joy.
It hurts too much to move, to get up and go on.
A part of her has died, never to be reborn.
In the ground lay a piece of her heart ripped out and torn.
How do you say goodbye to a life that has just began?
How do you fill these empty arms?
Will the grief and pain ever end?
Will this heart ever be whole again?
Up above the clouds where our Heavenly Father lives,
He is there with arms stretched wide, welcoming a baby home.
He knows a mother’s heart is broken, He feels her grief and pain.
But He will hold her baby until they can be together again.
