TITLE: God's Healing Hands

This is a revision of a piece I wrote called "Healing Hands". This purpose of this piece is to encourage others to depend on God for all things. The more we rely on Him, the better off the world would be.
A few days ago my 8 year old child told me he had an upset stomach. I gave him some medicine and took him to school. After picking him up from school, he expressed he had not felt well all day. After about an hour of seeing my typically energetic little boy just sit calmly and watch television, I decided to pray with him. While I prayed, I touched his belly. As soon as I said, “Amen”, he took three steps into the bathroom and immediately vomited. I have never seen a child happy to vomit, but my child was ecstatic. “Thank you mama for praying with me, it worked,” he screamed as he jumped up and down on his bed. I explained that it was God and not me. I was as equally happy and shamefully surprised at the quickening of God’s move.

I have never prayed for healing for things such as a headache or upset stomach. If I or someone else I know had a serious illness I am sure I would immediately pray. I guess I don’t want to bother God about the small ailments. When in reality, God wants to be in every part of our lives.

Hopefully from reading my testimony, you will likely pray for healing also. I am not special. It’s not like I was given a gift no one else was given. Mark 16: 17 and18b, says all those who believe will be able to lay hands on the sick and they will recover (paraphrased).

I know God is trying to strengthen my faith through this testimony. Since God responded so quickly, He knows my child and I both will be more likely to pray the next time anyone becomes ill. We won’t just pray, but we will have expectancy in our hearts that healing will take place.

After thinking for a few days about the testimony, I realized God’s message for me goes beyond praying about healing, but to pray about all things. Can you imagine what our lives would be like if we actually sought God for all things-large and small?

We battle with things everyday and completely ignore him. Are you battling with cigarette addiction, depression, or alcoholism? If you answered, “no”, what about that cup of coffee you have to have every morning before you leave for work? Do you eat or shop when you are upset? These are just two examples of things people may think are small issues, but they continue to show they are not depending on God to supply all of their needs.

If God cares enough to heal my child from an upset stomach, He cares enough to heal not only your physical body, but also your marriage, your finances, your children, your mind, etc.

I have to believe my child could have been healed that morning before he went to school if I would have put it in God’s hands.

What else am I not putting in His hands?
