‘When God had finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, He gave him the two stone tablets on which God himself had written the commandments’ Exodus 31 v 18
I found this scripture in one of my notebooks as I was writing up my poetry. It must have struck me to have written it down. But as I read it again , I was drawn straight away to the words ‘finished speaking’.
Have you ever been in a conversation where someone will just not listen and let you finish off even the last part of your sentence. Do you feel irritated by this? I know I do! I am not a confrontational person so I will just shut up and say nothing, but underneath very irritated indeed.
The Holy Scriptures earlier draw attention to the fact that Moses argues with God venting his insecurities as he tries to argue his way out of God’s call on his life. This opens up a whole new aspect to who God really is.
God doesn’t want just a yes person, a robot, a clone. God made us individual with unique characteristics. In psalm 139 David knows and is intimately known by God just like Moses.
‘For you formed my inward parts; you covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in secret. And skilfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed and in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them’.
Do you listen to what God is telling you? God wants to be in all of your life not just for a coffee break ‘quiet time’. Have you surrendered every aspect of your life to God or do you hold back things which you think you can handle yourself?
God loves you and will not force you. When I think of the woman at the well and how Jesus spoke with her. There was no condemnation from Jesus just an acknowledgement that she had spoken the truth about the fact she now had no husband. Jesus has not come to judge but to save and set us free.
God knows us and He is the Truth and wants for us to live by His Spirit and Worship Him in Truth. It is easy to deceive ourselves but God cannot be fooled.
I find it wonderfully freeing to be so honest with God because at the end of the day He knows us so well. He made us. I have vented my frustrations and anger and my sins have not been hidden from Him.
Yet still He continues to love .
Jesus still went ahead and died for us.
How amazing is that!
God’s love is so perfect and His Righteousness is what we need.
Jesus has bought it for us. For Free!!
We just have to give Him our heart.
So go into that high mountain just as Moses and all the other saints and prophets did; even Jesus! An example Jesus wants us to follow.
Be changed by the Glory of the Lord.
It was this that empowered the disciples to preach the good news, heal the sick and cast out demons.
It’s all about our relationship with God through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
May His Face shine upon us.
As the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit fell upon Jesus the voice from heaven said ‘This is my Son in whom I am well please LISTEN TO HIM’
God Bless
