Is your heart yet sore?
Do you still mourn the faded scripts
Or a month ago and more?
I know things didn’t go as you
Had wanted them to go;
I know you’re disappointed, hurt –
And angry, furthermore.
You wanted things to go one way,
Precise, concise and clear
Focused, unambiguous –
A certain course to steer.
But look again and see the stone
On which you tripped and fell:
It caused much hurt to those you love –
As I’ve heard you tell and tell –
And drew you close to another one
For whom your care was stirred,
To whom you’ve given of My love
And strength, and of My Word.
The way was unexpected, so
You could not plan ahead;
But the benefits have far surpassed
The little path you’d tread
Familiarly and easily,
Firm stepped and confident –
But see the fruit your detour bore –
A way I’m glad you went!
