peace.
There was a slight breeze that stirred the cool mountain air. As I hiked through the thick forest of Du Ebrithal despair slowly crept into my mind. It wasn't supposed to turn out like this. Life wasn't supposed to be so hard… As a child I dreamt of becoming a swordsman or a powerful leader, but life crushed my dreams into dust. My village was destroyed, my family was killed, and my life was ruined.
Now all that remained for me was revenge…
I vowed to take vengeance for my family’s murder…
I vowed that I would not rest until the man who killed my family was dead!
I examined the terrain around me. The shadows grew long as the sun began to set and the sky turned crimson red. I could hear the trickling of a stream in the distance and the slight rustling of branches as the wind grew stronger.
Suddenly a blinding light shined down in my eyes. All I could see was the vague silhouette of a man standing on the hill above me.
"Who are you?" I asked fearfully, drawing my sword.
"I am who I am." Said the man. His voice was deep and powerful yet loving at the same time. "I have seen into your heart," The man continued, "Why do you doubt that God exists?"
"Because if God existed then he wouldn't have let my family die! I have prayed every second that he would let me have them back but he would not listen! I prayed that he would give me a chance for revenge but he would not let me even have that! I prayed that he would give me strength to carry on, but now I am weak and tired!" I screamed in anger. "If God existed than he wouldn't have ruined my life!"
"You grow angry because I have not fulfilled the dreams you appointed for yourself, but I am the creator of life and the maker of dreams." The man stated.
The words sunk into my heart and tears stung my eyes.
"It is not for me to fulfill your dreams but for you to fulfill mine." The man said with power emanating from his words. Tears ran down my face but I didn't bother to wipe them away. The anger in my heart flooded away and was replaced by something new. Something greater. I felt joy. The joy of knowing that God actually exists. From that moment on I vowed to give my life to Christ and to spread the word to all who would listen.
I emerged from that forest a new man. A man of God…
