TITLE: The Choir Director By Rhonda McKissack 05/08/07 |

A great man with a wonderful sense of humor.
I always picked at him about how serious he became during choir pratice. Everyone got a good laugh out of it so I thought I would share it.
I watched him lead them all in song,
with smiles upon their hearts.
The friendly man who seemed so nice
and surely fit the part.
So excited I was to join
and sing unto the Lord
But no one had prepared me
for what I had in store
He entered in and closed the door
and with everyone in place
the man I know so sweet before
had on a different face
He played the music and turned around
and glared across the room
Searching and listening with open ears
for someone out of tune
His hand was tight and fingers fast
as he held the remote control
His voice reached out so very loud
that I then prayed for my soul
We sang and tried so very hard
to be all that we could be
But everytime the music stopped
I prayed it wasn't me
