TITLE: Expressing your anger to God. By Donna Armstrong 04/20/07 |

There are many stories that we read in the Bible where people have expressed their anger and frustrations to God.
In the book of Mathew the story of the crucifixion, after the ninth hour of suffering on the cross. Jesus cried out to his Father in frustration. Why have you forsaken me? He felt like he had suffered enough in Calvary. RIght then he was demanding God to take him on home.
I do also believe that when God approached Adam and Eve in the garden. He was angry because he trusted them, most of all Adam. We can only go by what biblical writers tell us. We really do not know what he said in the garden of Eden.
Teaching our children that it is okay to question God and talk to him even if we are angry is not wrong. There would be less suicide, college and high school shootings, less violence period.
We should never be afraid to talk to God even if we are angry. In the book of Job. When Job was going through hard trials & tribulations. The story tells us that Job finally cursed God at the end.
However, their interpretation of cursing was when Job began to question God in reference to his existence. He felt like God should have let him die in his mothers womb. He wanted to know why God allowed him to be born to punish him with such hard tribulations as an upright and just man.
He challenged God to show himslef to him to explain his suffering. We should be able to challenge God. He said that he does not put more on us than we can bear, but sometimes it does seem to be a bit much when going through.
I thank my mom for teaching us about the power of prayer. And that it is okay to talk to God about our situations no matter what.
If we we never able to confront, question or challenge God like Job, then what purpose would he serve in our lives. If everything was always peaches and cream then we would have no reason for him or to give thanks and praise.
God holds the key that unlocks the doors to our understanding when we have questions. When we pay our tithes and make sacrificial offerings then we are challenging him to bless us, because when you give that sacrifice then you are making your request known to him. So we should be able to challenge him by demanding answers to things that are disturbing our spirit.
It is just like when we were children and when we approached our parents with a question, we wanted an answer or answers. It works the same way with God.
When tragedy strikes especially at a young age. Do you think that if you were in these parents shoes, losing an innocent child to the cruelty of a shooter, You would have high demand questions for God and you would be angrey? I would have many questions, want answers in more ways than one.
So for people to say that they would never get angry with God, is a lie. We never know how we are going to act when tragedy strikes.
