It is not easy watching one’s words in front of children. The smart ones are sure to use those very words on you some day.

I was busy trying to prepare for a lecture and my two year old friend’s son came around. He was such a distraction that I could not concentrate and write in his presence. He wanted my paper and my pen. All efforts to get him to write elsewhere proved abortive. Exasperated, I exclaimed, “Danny, you are disturbing me!”

Another day, he came around; this time he was the busy one. I tried to get his attention, but he would not answer me. He ignored me totally. As I persisted, he exclaimed, “Auntie Didi, you are disturbing me!
