TITLE: Thoughts of a Thankful Heart By Virginia Cowie 12/06/05 |

Oh Lord, sometimes I really fret
That my schedule is so hectic,
The little things I get upset
Include my house that’s not so neat.
Added to my busy schedule,
Is the longing of my soul
To regularly read the Bible
So that in sin, I would not fall.
From the schedule to the longing,
Comes the job that is demanding;
The energy to work I bring,
Felt very drained in the morning.
Because of all these, Oh, Dear God
I must confess I made you sad
Instead of showing thanksgiving,
I ended up to be grumbling.
But my dear Lord I am grateful
For your compassion and your call,
That when you see me in distress,
You are there for my heart to bless.
Thank you, that whenever I lose track
Of the narrow road and righteous path,
You are there for my soul to lift,
So I would not fall into a cliff.
Thank you for always reminding me
Of all the blessings of the day,
For your guidance and my family,
And for the simple things I see.
I thank you Lord for my husband
For his strength, courage, and helping hand
Although I’ve learned he’s not perfect,
He’s really trying to be sweet.
Of course there are my dear children
Who have learned to be understanding
They know their mother is a working mom
For all their needs she couldn’t come.
I thank you Lord for all my friends
And for the goodness of heart they bring
Although my time with them is dwindling
I see them very forgiving.
There are so much that I am thankful
And I couldn’t mention them all,
Just thankful Lord that you’re guiding
Every child of yours and their thinking.
My dear Lord, it is my earnest plea,
To be thankful always guide me;
‘Cause in order to have a content life’
I’ll have to have a thankful heart.
