I Will Try

Today I think that I shall never smoke again

I think that I shall never drink again, never curse again, and never think another bad thought nor commit another bad deed,

Instead…

I will remember those who are in pain
Those who are imprisoned, crazy or insane

Those who have no roof over their head
No food to eat, no shoes no bed

I will try to do something good for someone
Each and every day
Perhaps some money to a beggar
I meet along my way

I will not make fun of those less fortunate
I am no better then they
Instead I’ll remember them in prayer
At least that’s what I say

All that is my world
I will try not to take for granted
For you do reap what you sow
The seeds that you have planted

I will stop and appreciate everything around me
People, Places and Things
I will take a moment of silence
For all that this world brings

All these things I will try to do
So my world will be a better place
So there won’t be so much clutter
In my mind and in my space

Ultimately, it’s the spiritual things that really matter
How we treat the rest of mankind
I don’t want to be one of those
Who will be left behind
