In his quiet place
He bent to pray
To ask God's blessing
On another day
He prayed for those
Who are lost in sin
That they would somehow
Begin again
That the people of the earth
Who reject his power
Would ask God in
Before their final hour
That the sick would be healed
That the hungry be fed
That he would bless the children
As they head off to bed
He prayed for peace
In a world ravaged by war
That the nations of the earth
Would open the door
He prayed for wisdom
To be able to preach
To those who would hear him
He wanted to reach
He prayed for the soldiers
In the foreign lands
That God would bring them home
To their families again
He wept for the lonely
For those sick and ill
That in their lives
God would do his will
He prayed that even Christians
Would open their eyes
To see God clearly
Through Satan's disguise
And as he ended
His prayer that night
He thanked God for prayer
And for giving him the right
To speak to Him freely
Out in the light
Because of his grace
His power and might.
