Questions are a good way to help you define your thinking. They help you to zero in on what is important, a sorting process. These three questions will help you in areas of your life, to see what is important and what is not.
1) Is what I am doing in my day-to-day existence really important to me? Does what I am doing excite me like it used to when I first started?
Have you slipped into a rut of doing the same old thing everyday without enjoying it? If you have a job, do you look forward to going there each day? Why or why not? Does your attendance and attitude while at work show what you are feeling inside? Are you hard to get along with? Just doing your job, and not helping anyone else as you do what you are supposed to?
Are you always thinking of new ways to do what is done at your job? In other words, is your mind there as well as your body?
2) Am I putting everything into my relationships so that they will last or just trying to get by? Do I care about the person I am with, and does it show in your attitude and other ways?
Sometimes, just like our jobs, we can become ho-hum about our relationships as well. We don't treat the other person as nicely as we used to. Maybe you need to reinvent what you already have with that person. Start over, in a sense, and show them the courtesies and attitude you had toward them when you first met. Relationships are not built once and then meant to be forgotten, they are a constant building and rebuilding process, or should be. People have become disposable in that we often think we can just use them up like toothpaste and start a new tube, so to speak, with a new person--discarding the old one. That is why our lives can be in such shambles, because we don't have that idea of permanency relationships once had.
3) Is the spiritual side of your life important to me? Do I tend to neglect it since it is not visible like other parts of my life? Why do you feel as you do about this subject?
Is being close to God my number one priority? Why or why not? You and mankind as a whole were and are His first priority. Who is God to you? Someone who is faraway and doesn't care about your existence and what you go through each day? Or is He a personal God, interested in your everyday existence? Is He powerful or weak in your estimation? All these answers will help define your life, not just your beliefs. If you have a low opinion of God, you will have one kind of life. If you have a powerful God, then your life will reflect that also. What you believe about God will determine what kind of life you have, good or bad.
Where do you find answers for your life? Are you still searching? Why are you having trouble, if you are, believing that God loves you and cares about you? Something from your childhood? A hodgepodge of beliefs from wherever? The Bible? Opinions of your friends and associates? Do you think about what happens after this life? Are you prepared for that? In what way are you prepared, and how do you find the peace that you need in life? What are you doing for yourself that has eternal significance? How you answer these questions will help determine your eternal destiny? What do you think about that concept? Is it important to you or do you shove into the 'later box' to dealt with some other time? Why isn't your spiritual side important to you?
As you can see, three questions became many more than that, because questions cannot go unanswered. We can shove them under the proverbial rug but they always have a way of resurfacing. How have you answered the important questions of life? Where do you find the right answers? I hope you will have the wisdom to look in the right place for them. God is waiting for you there!
