Transforming the face each day
Each month and year
As we grow
Recede
Grow again and disappear to some
To others, full
Clouds distort our aspect
Unknowing that from without
Throughout that course
We are still
Perhaps more
Beautiful, majestic
Creating a scene necessary to the world’s vision
Bright as the sun
Yet not ourselves
Full of life
With none living innately
And people gaze
Not recognizing our source
Of color, brilliance
Of life
Rotating, shifting
Sometimes a sliver
And others, waxing
We cannot remain full
Must accept our role
Living to function as we are
Yet never leaving the skyline
Never accepting anything other
As a streetlamp, headlight,
Simple beam illuminating through a living room window
No
We are greater
Despite the clouds and phases
We are
Beautiful, majestic
