WITNESS FOR JESUS

I smile as I remember my initial witnessing experiences. As a new believer, I wanted to share Jesus with others. Our church was heavily involved in witnessing. Each Saturday evening, a witnessing team canvassed the local neighborhood. We knocked on doors, and if anyone answered we attempted to discuss Jesus with them. One woman's response to our knocks was discouraging as well as humorous. She delayed in opening her door. When she opened the door we told her we wanted to tell her about Jesus. Her response was "I was doing fine until you came to the door." She immediately closed the door. Although initially discouraged, I now smile whenever I think about that experience.

Over zealous, I often stopped people on the street and asked them about Jesus. "Do you know Jesus?" I asked. My early experiences as a witness for Jesus serve as a reminder of what not to do when telling others about Jesus. Although I continue to tell others about Jesus, I now realize my life is my best witness for Jesus. People are drawn to Jesus as they observe him in my life. The life that I live is a witness for
Jesus.
