CLOUDS
The brooding clouds, with visual shout
declare the glory of the Lord.
They hover o'er the thirsty earth
as dewdrops deep within their wombs
swirl and clash and coalesce
till, with a load too great to bear
the crystal liquid tumbles down
to wash the skies and feed the ground
awakening the dormant seeds
to bring abundant life.
The clouds portray the heart of God
Who looks upon the thirsty souls
and sees their need and hears their cries
(though it's their sin that's caused the mess).
And, deep within the heart of God,
swirl waves of mercy, love and grace
that merge and mingle and combine
and grow within the Father's heart
and -- as the raindrops in their time
touch earth with heaven from whence they came --
so, from the Father in their time
come Love and Mercy, Truth and Grace.
They come in His beloved Son
The Bread of Life, the rain of God.
Jesus comes to touch the lost,
watering a dormant hope
and causing it to burst its skin, to blossom and to bloom.
He takes a life that's cracked and dry
and with the water of His Word
He makes that life a garden
where others come and find their rest
and solace with the Saviour.
Thus do the clouds that cross the sky
and pour their life upon the land
exalt the God who made them,
proclaiming there for all to see
the glory of our Saviour
Who seeks the thirsty everywhere,
pouring out His life for them
so those who hear will burst with joy
as Jesus comes to walk with them,
to cause their lives to bud and bloom
and in their time to bear much fruit
in their re-created Eden.
But as for me, I would seek God
And to God I would commit my cause ---
Who does great things and unsearchable,
Marvellous things without number.
He gives rain on the earth,
And sends waters on the fields.
He sets on high those who are lowly,
And those who mourn are lifted to safety.
Job 4:8-11
