Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (KJV)
I find nothing pleasant about waiting. It’s boring, agitating, and mostly a waste of time. I can think of everything else I COULD be doing instead of waiting. I think many of us feel the same way. It is the human side of us that naturally gives way to the negative side of life by carnal instinct.
Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. (KJV)
As I read the 37th chapter of Psalms I found it quite profound and meditation worthy. I encourage you to read it and let the words of wisdom fill your being. David knew all too well about waiting. Waiting was profitable for David, and it is also profitable for us as well. It is absolutely amazing how God works in our waiting period; if we will hold out and hold on throught it’s process.
There is far more positive in waiting than negative. We must learn to change our perspective by simply flipping the process around in our head. Instead of being tortured by it, embrace it. Rather than being bored, be delighted! The fruit that waiting brings is more bountiful than the dreading of its uncertainty.
The enemy would have us think poorly of waiting. He doesn’t want us to wait so that we will not receive the blessing it brings. If he can keep us imprisoned by the drudgery of it all, we will give up and move on to something else more pleasant. How easily our flesh will move us out of the will of God because we can’t simply wait on God.
I’ve been in the place of waiting before. Anticipating what is next. Feeling as though I couldn’t possibly wait for the fruition of the next step to appear. I’ve been restless, impatient, aggravated and agitated; to say the least. When I feel that way, I must remember to change my outlook and my attitude in the waiting. I must rejoice in its purpose and the benefits that waiting will bring to me. “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengths me”! Phil 4:13 (KJV)
Have fun while you wait!
Psalms 37:18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. (KJV)
Prayer: Lord, waiting truly is not fun for my fleshly man, but help me to be still and wait on you. I refuse to let the enemy or my human flesh move me out of your will during my waiting period. What you have instore for me will be worth the wait. I can do all things through Christ, and you are worth waiting for. Amen.
