Fear
God’s love is the only perfect love. Therefore we need to tap into his perfect love. 1 John 4:18.
I’d been on holidays for five days in which many fears came to mind before leaving home. Some of these fears I shared with my wife which of course is personal. The first couple of days weren’t too bad as I managed my fears quite well. Fears became more relevant to me when money started to dwindle and certain things would crowd my mind regarding being away from home. Things like more rocks thrown at our windows from uncaring people and terrorizing phone calls to my wife.
Being home finding all things well, I had subscribed to a magazine. In the magazine I read an article on “Fear.” Although I found the article biblically correct, I dug further into the meaning of 1 John 4:18
<i>"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."</i>
I realized from this verse I haven’t got perfect love. It is only the Lord Jesus Christ who has this perfect love.
<i>"Greater love has no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends."</i>
John 15:13.
If an elephant was partially injured by anyone and the elephant saw the person before escaping, when returning to the same area, the elephant would go on a rampage to chase the one who injured him. The elephant would remember everything and anything which brought the elephant into distress. Isn’t it the same as us in nature? Our fears overwhelm us and without Christ's love we would react against the wrong that has been done to us through fear. At a fear calamity in our lives we need to tap into the one who has the perfect love for us.
The resource to casting out our fears is the perfect love of Christ through prayer. By praying to him as our advocate or lawyer we can have a peace of mind and a cloak of protection which is totally unexplainable and can be only experienced by the one who taps in by prayer to the one who can cast out fear.
<i>"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"</i> 1 John 2:1
