What do you do when alone or in a crowd and feel lonely? I've chosen for a time to be single, to not date or actively look for a man until my kids are grown. Most of the time I enjoy the relative freedom of doing what I want when I want to do it. I don't mind being alone and most of the time feel loved by God and others. But there are times when feelings of wanting to be held fill me and no matter how many verses I read about God being enough, the feeling doesn't vanish. So how do you or I make it through the tough spots when we could go to any bar and find someone willing to fill the void for a few moments?
I've become convinced all problems have an answer in God's Word. Back I go. I need comfort God. I need to know You're listening and care about not being able to physically touch another. Did You ever feel that way Jesus? It's said You were tempted in every area I am and yet did not sin. Did You want the physical comfort of another? How did You fill the void?
Mark 1:35 The next morning He was up long before daybreak and went out alone into the wilderness to pray.
Luke 5:15-16 Now the report of His power spread even faster and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. But He often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.
Luke 6:12 One day soon afterwards He went out into the mountains to pray, and prayed all night.
Hmmm, there seems to be a pattern here. Jesus went away alone and prayed to His Father. If Jesus found comfort and fulfillment in getting away alone to talk with His Daddy so will I. Papa, there is no one like You. If You count the hairs on my head You surely care about this. Help me in times of sorrow. Fill me with Your love. Help me never forget I belong to You. I'm nothing without You. Thank You for loving me. In Jesus strong name, Amen.
