TITLE: His Mother's Eyes

I wrote this soon after I had my son, thinking about the crucifiction from his mothers point of view.
As He hung upon the cross
His eyes found those of his mother.
There was so much she had to say
but it couldn't be said to another.
Her eyes spoke to him
and he heard each word as though she said them.

"I cannot bear to see your pain
you've done nothing to deserve this shame.
What is there to gain
can't you please explain?
I simply cannot understand your plan
Your work here cannot be done"...and then-
"I'm not ready to lose you my son.

Her eyes searched his face
and she whispered "I'd gladly take your place".
His eyes told her everything she needed to know
only His blood could make her sins white as snow.
She suddenly understood the true meaning of Grace.
When she realized He had come to take her place.
