This is meant for people recovering from divorce and beginning new relationships. It was written during the first few months of such a relationship. I look forward to your comments.
When love first blossoms in a life it is easy to forget to include the Lord in future plans. We are so caught up in the joy of the newly discovered feelings stirring within us that we forget to thank God for allowing this miracle to happen in our lives. Writing these verses reminded me that without His help this fragile thing we call love is so easily lost and that we need Him center most in our lives in order to have the kind of relationships that last a lifetime.

Both my new love and I had been through devastating first marriages. God led us through a time in our lives when we both felt we could never love again. The realization that we could open our hearts again was frightening. Praying that we could find the strength to let love grow was a necessity to us both. Our hearts had been so bruised we had to depend on the Lord being center of our life to even think about loving again. Without having someone who shared that commitment neither of us would have ever been able to trust enough to let the love of a lifetime grow.


Blank Pages

There is a new book to be written
The pages lay before us blank
As yet no ink has been applied
What will our pages hold?
Hopes and dreams of things yet to come
Hard work, dedication that much we know
Love and devotion form the cornerstone
For this manuscript of love
The introduction has been written
Healing wounds, finding friendship
Then came love true and tender
Our histories have been told
Old demons put at bay
Now the page is blank again
Waiting for the writer’s pen
But now it must be two instead of one
Who fill the pages to the brim
A lifetime it will take
For the volume must be thick
Let us start our manuscript of love
For the writer’s pen awaits.
