The napkin was neatly folded,
Having been wrapped around Christ’s head.
Yet, in quite another small place;
The grave clothes lay on the grave bed.
No body in that Sepulchre,
But the grave clothes were all still there.
Yet, the neatly folded napkin,
Left us a message loud and clear.
In the tradition of the Jews,
If one ever left the table,
They neatly folded the napkin
When they were returning, if able
When the napkin was on the plate,
Servants knew it was safe to clear;
But the napkin, neatly folded,
Showed that the guest would return here.
So, Jesus folded the napkin
As a message to all His own.
Someday He would surely return,
To take all of His children home!
As surely as the Christ was born,
He will be coming once again;
To take the redeemed to glory.
Those who repented from their sin.
Today is the day of salvation!
Christ bore our sins on the cross!
He rose again, victorious!
No need to suffer loss!
