Church bells are ringing, there’s joy in the air
The choir is singing, there’s love for all to share
But in the back is a little girl
With bruises on her face
Still no one asks about her life
Apart from this place
Children are laughing, the school year’s all done
People are passing a lonely little one
His daddy left, his momma drinks
So he spends his days alone
He wonders if he ends it all
Anyone will know
A young girl walks into a room down the hall
Her parents, they never knew about the baby at all
She starts to cry but she has no choice
This wasn’t in her plans
“It’s for the best” she tells herself
But her heart just broke again
A young man bends down to kiss his dear wife
He listens for any sound to tell him she’s alive
Why did God take her home to Him
At the age of twenty-one
If it wasn’t for the baby girl
His life would come undone
A battered girl, a lonely boy, a baby gone home
A mother who left the daddy alone
Is there hope among the pain
Is there a reason not to cry
Is there someone who will come
To save us when we die
A mother stands there weeping and watches her Son
His skin is torn and bleeding but His work has been done
The King of Kings, Lord of Lords
Who died upon a tree
He died so we could live with him
And one day be free
Love is a virtue, it conquers always
And Christ only proved it when He rose from the grave
Hurt gives us a chance to hope
And yearn for something more
And love is found when all is lost
That’s what He died for
We’re what He died for
