Poetry
Christmas was upon me,
With its multicolored lights,
With its ribbons, bags, and boxes,
And extraordinary sights,
And I pondered, as I wandered ,
Walking briskly through the snow,
"What does Christmas really mean?"
Somehow I did not know,
And I had not traveled very long,
Nor ventured very far,
When I stopped upon my frozen tracks,
To wish upon a star,
"Star," I bellowed anxiously,
"Twinkling high and bright,
Could you grant a wish for me,
This cold and blistery night,
Would you, could you, little star?"
I questioned with a shout,
"Would you kindly show me,
Just what Christmas is about?"
Then suddenly like magic,
In the quiet of the night,
Came that star upon my shoulder,
And it blinded me with light,
And I had to lift a mitten,
To protect my squinting eyes,
But the light got even brighter,
And my feet began to rise,
And that star and I were shooting,
Like a comet through the sky,
I could feel my spirit lifted,
I could feel my body fly,
I could see my coat tails flapping,
And my tassels in the breeze,
I could see my feet behind me,
Falling victim to my knees,
I was racing through that night,
Without the slightest bit of fear,
And the silence of the universe,
Was all that I could hear,
Then all at once, that little star,
Began to twirl and spin,
And we headed for the cresent moon,
And we landed on its chin,
And I saw that from that sleeping moon,
There came a golden beam,
That showered me with brilliance,
As I slipped into a dream,
And my eyes no longer squinted,
Were now one within the light,
As I gazed upon the ancient Earth,
And a stable in the night,
And the silence was now broken,
As I watched in awe and wonder,
I could hear creation singing,
It was echoing like thunder,
I saw shepards knelt in reverance,
Every creature bowed its head,
I could see a tiny baby,
With a manger for his bed,
He was wrapped in only swaddling clothes,
On a meager tuft of hay,
And the heavens stood wide open,
I could hear the angels pray,
And standing in that stable,
Keeping watch of that small child,
Stood a fellow strong and silent,
And a woman meak and mild,
With the light of God upon them,
And a twinkle in their eyes,
They were joined in adoration,
They were looking to the skies,
And a voice came down from Heaven,
And it spoke of peace and joy,
And it spoke of mans salvation,
And of that darling little boy,
It declared he was The Son of God,
And the Prince of peace and love,
And at that creation shuttered,
And gave thanks to God above,
And that cresent moon below me,
Started singing songs of praise,
As he looked upon that infant boy,
And adorned him with his rays,
I could feel his body tremble,
I could hear the old moon weep,
I could feel his tears upon me,
I was taken from that sleep,
And that tiny star was with me,
As I stepped out from that dream,
Resting high upon a cresent moon,
Now, blinded by its beam,
And I had to raise a mitten,
To protect my squinted eyes,
While that star and I went shooting,
Through the cold December skies,
With my scarf and coat tails flapping,
And my tassels in the breeze,
And with tears of joy upon my face,
Now cold enough to freeze,
I rode upon that little star,
And headed straight for Earth,
And at last I knew that Christmas,
Was about my Savoirs birth.
