A wise man once said I have a dream
Perhaps he meant vision instead
For all of us the new patriots
Are beginning to move ahead

Slowly and methodically
A new feeling has come to light
A neo frontier is dawning
A fresh field on which to fight

An enlightenment encroaches
As men are beginning to see
We owe our allegiance to no flag
But to humanity

Too long we have battled
In sky, land, and sea
Fighting for what we call freedom
Going to war blindly

Just whom are we escaping from?
Who is this dreadful venomous foe?
Is it not our own kind?
We murder and lay low

I am not a true pacifist
I would battle for my life
But I see no good coming
From senseless grief and strife

Just when are we going to lie
Our egos and weapons aside
Admitting we are all brothers
Forgetting prejudice and pride

If we kill men and women
Do we not slay our sons and daughters?
If one child starves in a world of plenty
Should not all become murderers

Three things stand between our dream and us
We hold for all the Earth
Politics, religion, and prejudice
The latter being the worst

Politicians love poverty
Only they have world renown
Yet the people who die of need
Are overlooked their voices ignored

Religion is corrupt
Offering God for a price
Taking unfair advantage
Promising paradise

Prejudice is a poison
Leftover from primitive times
When knowing your friend from your enemy
Meant saving life and land

Black, white, red, purple
We are all the same inside
We must turn away from our aggression
In our humanity take pride

That we as a species
Have risen on our planet
We are in a unique position
To preserve and study life on it

We are faced with a decision
Come together as friends for good
Or face ultimate destruction
Leaving no monument for what we stood

In one million years
When our planet is seen
By other civilized beings
Looking for the remnants of men

I wish and hope they may find
A species come to peace at last
Evolved through the endless challenges of time
The children of the Sun
