Ransom
Mark 10: 45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Ransom;
A fee paid to free a slave or hostages
The release of a person in return for payment
Jesus paid a ransom for us because we could not pay it ourselves. In His death He released us from our slavery to sin. The disciples thought that Jesus’ power would save them from Rome, but Jesus said His death would save them from sin an even greater slavery.
You have seen the movies where someone has been taken hostage, and then the call is made for the emergency crew to arrive at the scene, depending on the urgency to save the life of the one that is being held captive a negotiator is called, in hopes of freedom for the prisoner/captive/slave/hostage…once the RANSOM is paid freedom is granted.
“The negotiation took place in Gethsemane & the Ransom was the CROSS”
