Where I come from, 'Birthdays' mean two things: 1: You give your friends a 'Treat'; which would be in the form of a birthday party or night out on the town or even a simple meal. 2: You'd get loads of gifts; this too would vary. For example, if you were having a big party, you'd prob. get a good/expensive gift to match & likewise.

The closer you get to someone, the more inclined you are to give without receiving. My darling friend Delilah insists I don't have to worry about giving her a gift, while at the same time making sure that she brings me something very special for my birthday. Both of us try to outdo each other in our display of affection; not for the show of it, but because our friendship is special & a birthday is the perfect time to demonstrate just how special the friendship really is.

Imagine then if a worldly friendship can be so beautiful, how great a friendship we could have with the Lover of Lovers, Love Himself, our Lord Jesus Christ! And what better time for us to demonstrate our love to Him than at His birthday this Christmas?

This Christmas while Jesus gives us the ultimate treat - God in us - Emmanuel; let us too make a gift of ourselves to Him. The more you love Jesus, the more you will give yourself to Him.

One thing we should be aware of though, no matter how hard we try, we can Never outdo Jesus in showing love. No matter what we may do for Him, He'll always do more! Give yourself to Jesus this Christmas & God will come into your heart! And that's one gift no one can take away from you!

My blessing for you is "that our Risen Christ and Saviour be born in your heart this Christmas!" Amen
