Easter is a wonderful time to share your faith with others. My husband had a Muslim friend who asked him what Good Friday was about and that gave my husband the perfect opportunity to share his faith. (If you want an easy way to share your faith go to www.christianworkingmom.com and click on the Pocket Power banner on the right hand side).
So, let’s answer the question, “Why is the Resurrection So Important?” Paul gives us a very good reason. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:14, “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.” Wow, a very bold statement. I would encourage you to read all of 1 Corinthians 15 for a better understanding of this point.
Our whole faith and salvation is based on the fact that Jesus was raised from the dead. There are hundreds of witnesses that testified to the fact Jesus was raised from the dead. We serve a living God not a dead one. No other religion can say their leader was raised from the dead. All other religions serve dead men. We serve God who sent His only Son to earth. Jesus was totally human and divine at the same time. He is alive today in the hearts of believers everywhere.
Another important point is Jesus predicted his own death and resurrection. We often think that Pontius Pilate ordered Jesus’ death. Even though he technically ordered Jesus’ death, Jesus was in control of the whole situation. He could have called down thousands of angels to stop his crucifixion, but he did not. He willingly sacrificed his life for us.
So, when you share the Easter story with others point out the tomb is still empty and why we celebrate Easter. The resurrection is the central point of our faith. As Paul said, “If Christ had not been raised our faith would be useless.” Praise God Jesus was raised from the dead and I praise Him that He chose me to be His follower. Thank God today for the precious gift of His Son and the resurrection. Share the gift you have with others. This is a gift too good to keep to ourselves.
