Grief
Theft Witnessed
Today started out as all other's start. Get up, rush around to get dressed and eat. I then head out the door at six thirty to be waiting when the school bus pulls up in front of my house.
The last class of the day is our sewing class and that’s where I’m heading now. The class room is buzzing with all the girls cutting out their item to be stitched and pressed.
I finally get my skirt ready to press and head into the side room where the steam iron and ironing board is set up. Entering the room I see some one was faster than I and is at the ironing board, I’m not sure what’s she doing. She certainly is acting weird. She turned as I walked up and she looked scared. She spoke then and asked the dumbest question I ever heard. Holding the iron up she asked” Water is coming out of this iron, is it suppose to?” Well it is a stream iron isn’t it? Although I was thinking that, I didn’t say it. I replied, “Yes, that’s what it does.”
Walking to the school bus after class was over; I was joined by my best friend, obviously distressed about something. Her money had been taken. She related to me that it had been in the ironing room and it was gone when she went back to get it after class. We questioned who in the world took her money. Most of us have been classmates all three years of high school.
Suddenly, I knew who had taken the money, it was as clear as day. Wasn’t she new this year to our school? And most certainly she was acting suspicious when I walked in the room; she was acting like she had never seen a steam iron! Well, wait until we get on the bus, I am calling her out in front of everyone. She won’t get by with this.
I picked out seats in the middle of the bus, so everyone could hear what I said when the thief came on the bus. It wasn’t long till up the bus steps she came. I pointed out to my friend how unconcerned the thief looked, laughing with another girl; seeming not to have a worry in the world. It sure was a good act. It was time to take action. I called out loudly so all could hear,” Hey, what did you do with the money you took?”
Her face changed fast. She asks “what money?” I told her,"my friend's money" she said she didn’t take any money and even offered to let us look in her belongings. Well, she sat down and was quiet the rest the trip home. We didn't see her in school after that, doesn't that prove I was right?
We fixed her, yes we did!
