Encouragement
Purpose; that is a subject many of us have or at least have had at one time or another. We seek to belong or to become something in this world. Since birth we are taught we must accomplish certain task to been deemed a success, feeling if we don’t we are lesser people. The world judges by our status in the community or the money and possessions we obtain. Christians should judge very differently though as we know that these things mean nothing in God’s eyes.
People strive to “become something” not realizing that God has a plan for each of us. The thing is, we must know who we are first. As true Christians we are children of the “most High God” The word of God says in 1 Peter, Chap. 2, and Verse 9:
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people to be his very own and to proclaim the wonderful deeds of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
A Royal priesthood; let us truly understand that and accept it in our lives. So we see that the idea of having to “become something” is an illusion, for if you are a child of the King you already are something. We must let that soak in and believe that. Let us for a moment take a look at the prophet Jeremiah. We read in Jeremiah Chapter 1 verse 5;
Before I formed you in the belly I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet to the nations
So we see that God says to Jeremiah that it was God himself that called him into service, He was a man truly ordained of God since his birth. He did not need to become something for he already was. He simply needed to grasp the fact that he knew it and believed it. It did not take the clearance of “man” to say he was, God had already declared it. This means that when we are born there is a plan, but we having a free will must choose to allow God to lead us, or we can very easily get off the track God as ordained for us, and get on what is often the track that has an appearance of good.
Are you a follower of Christ? Is your lifestyle role modeled from him? Do you know who you are? My friends God knows who you are, will you accept it today? Seek the Lord and ask him where it is he would have you to be, and no matter where that might be, be willing to go where it is he sends you. Lay down the plans of self and arise to the plan God has for you. Take hold of this knowledge and run with it. Each stride directed by the father and see the true meaning of success.
